The day began with an address from Kevin Hutton, PACNY President, and Craig Kaputa, PACNY Past President, who provided an overview of the state of PACNY. Their presentation highlighted the organization's accomplishments over the past year, ongoing initiatives, and future goals. The duo emphasized PACNY's commitment to advancing industry standards and supporting its members through education, advocacy, and networking opportunities.  Angelo Garcia, III was honored by receiving the PACNY's President Award for his efforts in handling the LinkedIn postings for the conference, sitting on the conference planning committee, and participating as a Board Member.

Interactive Keynote: Navigating an OSHA Inspection

The keynote speaker, Mike Rubin of Ogletree Deakins, delivered an impactful and interactive session, "An Interactive Walk Through an OSHA Inspection." Rubin's presentation was a deep dive into the intricacies of handling OSHA inspections, focusing on key points that every employer must know:

• Know Your Rights: Employers should be well-versed in their rights during an OSHA inspection to ensure they are adequately prepared.
• Scope of Inspection: It is crucial to verify that OSHA's requests are within the scope of the inspection to avoid unnecessary overreach.
• Cooperate But Be Informed: While cooperation with OSHA inspectors is essential, employers should remain informed and vigilant about their rights and obligations.
• Document Requests in Writing: Employers should always request that OSHA put their document requests in writing to maintain clear and accurate records.

Rubin's interactive approach, including role-playing scenarios, allowed attendees to gain practical knowledge and confidence in managing real-life OSHA inspections.

Vendor Exhibition and Networking: Engaging with Industry Leaders

Following Rubin's session, attendees had the opportunity to network and explore the vendor exhibition hall during the final coffee break. The exhibition hall was bustling with activity as professionals connected with vendors, discovered the latest industry products, and shared experiences and insights.

NYSDOL Presentations: Streamlining Processes and Introducing New Capabilities

The late morning session featured a series of presentations from key representatives of the New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL) Asbestos Control Bureau.  Matthew Robinson-Loffler, Deputy Director of the Division of Safety and Health, began by highlighting improvements in the licensing process for asbestos and mold professionals. He noted that filing applications through the MPWR website ensures that paperwork is handled by department personnel within 24 hours, significantly speeding up the turnaround time for obtaining licenses and certificates.

The most significant announcement from NYSDOL was the introduction of online variance filing through the MPWR website. Chek Beng Ng, Program Manager of the Engineering Services Unit, provided a detailed walkthrough of the new variance filing process. He demonstrated how to navigate the system and submit variance requests efficiently. Chek Beng Ng also addressed numerous questions from attendees, clarifying various aspects of the process. It was evident that while the new online system is a work in progress, it represents a significant step towards streamlining administrative procedures.

Kirk Fisher, Program Manager of the Asbestos Control Bureau, concluded the NYSDOL presentations by reinforcing the importance of compliance.  This year we had one of the highest attendances from the different District Offices of NYSDOL's Asbestos Control Bureau.

Networking Lunch: Building Connections and Fostering Collaboration

The conference concluded with a networking lunch, offering attendees a final opportunity to engage with peers, discuss the day's insights, and establish new connections. The collaborative atmosphere fostered by PACNY's conference emphasized the importance of community and shared knowledge in advancing the environmental industry.

Day One Highlights: A Deep Dive into Environmental Challenges

The conference kicked off with an array of expert speakers, setting the tone for an engaging and informative event. Ben Reich of Eurofins opened the sessions with his talk on "Interpretation of Laboratory Results: Complicated Considerations Challenging Mold Sample Reporting." Reich's detailed analysis shed light on the complexities of mold sample reporting, emphasizing the need for meticulous interpretation of laboratory results.

Also opening the conference on the second track was Charles Merritt of Merritt Environmental Consulting Corp. who educated us with "PFAS: Primary Introduction, 'What is all the talk about?"  Merritt's comprehensive overview of PFAS (per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances are a group of synthetic chemicals that have been used in consumer products and industrial processes since the 1940s) provided attendees with crucial knowledge on this emerging environmental concern.

Brent Kynoch of the Environmental Information Association (EIA) followed on the first track with "Compliance Chronicles: Understanding Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Lead Rules." His presentation provided a thorough overview of the current EPA lead regulations, helping attendees navigate the intricate compliance landscape.

Lisa Rogers of Mycometer and Frank Ehrenfeld of Eurofins collaborated on "American Society of Testing Materials (ASTM) Standards: Reducing Risk and Adding Value for the Analytical, Environmental, and Occupational Health & Safety Professional." Their presentation highlighted the importance of ASTM standards in mitigating risks and enhancing value across various sectors, including analytical, environmental, and occupational health and safety.

The Fallacy of PCM Clearance: A Critical Examination

Just before lunch, we had the honor of presenting on a topic close to our heart: "The Fallacy of PCM Clearance."  Our presentation aimed to challenge the conventional reliance on Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM) for clearance in asbestos abatement projects.  By highlighting PCM's limitations and potential inaccuracies, we advocated for more rigorous and reliable clearance methodologies, like the EPA's Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) method.

Addressing Disposal Challenges and Standards Updates

Also just before lunch, Jonathan Wagman, the Area Director of Industrial Sales for NY/NE Market for Waste Management, tackled a critical issue with "PCB Disposal: Identification and Disposal of PCB Contaminated Debris." Wagman's expertise in hazardous waste management offered valuable guidance on identifying and properly disposing of PCB-contaminated materials.

Cole Stanton, representing Sentinel Products, updated attendees on the latest "Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) standards" with his presentation. Stanton's discussion on standards in the restoration industry highlighted recent advancements and best practices, ensuring professionals stay abreast of current protocols.

Lunch and Networking Break

After lunch, the conference continued with the two tracks coming together for the PACNY Panel Discussion featuring insights from industry leaders including Jesse Scuderi of AEG, Angela Liddell of Paradigm, and Mike Waller of Lozier.  Kevin Hutton of EAST, acted as the moderator. Their dialogue on "Project Designers Discuss Variances and Project Design" offered diverse perspectives on tackling variances and optimizing project designs.

After the Variances panel discussion, we returned to the two-track presentations.  The first track was the collaboration between Jeremy Starr of MSA and Jerrod Garrett of LeChase in "Elevating Safety: Unraveling the Importance of Fall Protection for Contractors and Consultants" which was particularly impactful. Their emphasis on fall protection underscored the critical need for comprehensive safety protocols in the construction and environmental sectors.

Elizabeth Kirkland of the New York State Department of Labor wrapped up the day's sessions with "Common DOL Inspector Observations." Kirkland's firsthand insights into frequent violations and inspection observations provided invaluable knowledge for ensuring compliance and avoiding penalties.

Counting Down to a Month of Conferences - First it's PACNY's Environmental Conference and Then EIA's!

The 2022 PACNY's 8th Annual Pro-AM Fishing Tournament Was A Success, Again!

Well, the annual salmon fishing trip was a success, again!  We had a great time and enjoyed the time on the lake.  We took the 8th Annual journey to Point Breeze to participate in the Professional Abatement Contractors of New York (#PACNY) Salmon Fishing Pro-Am Derby.  This year 18 boats participated in the derby.  We left Orchard Creek to fish the Great Lake of Ontario at 6 AM.  Future Environment Designs (#FEDTC) was represented by Ms. Sheryl Exposito, Ms. Veronica Hansen-Garcia, Mr. Matt Dech, and Mr. Angelo Garcia, III, and we were in the same boat as last year's "Catchin Hell" piloted by Captain Tom.  This year we hoped to defend the trophy we won last year.

It was a beautiful day, the Lake was a little rough and because of it, we bounced around a bit on the way out and during the fishing.  Captain Tom did a great job handing us the poles and giving us encouragement as we reeled in our catches.  We stayed on the lake until about noon and then came ashore to weigh our catches and see who won the derby.  After the weigh-in, a catered buffet lunch was provided by the Black North Inn, and the trophies/prizes were awarded.  This year's winners were:

We had a great time, we caught 1 King Salmon and 3 Rainbow Trout.  We are looking forward to some good eating over the year as we usually bring all the fish home to have some over the next few days and then freeze the rest to have until next year's catch.  Thank you to Darren Yehl for adding to what we brought home.  This year we were a little disappointed in that we didn't bring home more King Salmon or maintain our title from last year, however, we have been very fortunate in the past and we are very grateful for attending the event every year.  Looking forward to next year on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, save the date!

EPA Clarifies Miscellaneous Materials Sampling - RePublished

Over the past several months in the asbestos refresher classes, we have been talking about the clarification letter that the Professional Abatement Contractors of New York (PACNY) sent to all asbestos contractors and consultants back in November 2007. This letter detailed clarification from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) regulation to a question from Mr. Christopher Alonge of the New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL) regarding the minimum number of samples that should be taken for miscellaneous materials. According to this clarification (follow the link above for the PACNY letter and clarification), the minimum number of samples that should be taken of miscellaneous materials (i.e., floor tiles, roofing, caulk, ceiling tiles) is two. The original AHERA section covering sampling of miscellaneous materials indicates that the word used in this part of the regulation is "samples" indicating more than one.

Realize this is only an issue if you took one sample of let's say floor tiles, and based on the result (remember floor tiles are analyzed utilizing the nonfriable organically bound material method of analysis, requiring final negative results to be analyzed by Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM)) you said the floor tiles did not contain asbestos. The EPA clarification says that you needed another negative sample result to say the floor tiles did not contain asbestos. This issue obviously does not impact those of you who have been following our recommended procedure of taking at least three samples per homogeneous miscellaneous material. If you followed our recommendation you would have three negative results before declaring a miscellaneous material not asbestos-containing and would be in compliance with the clarification and the original regulation.

PACNY's 2022 25th Annual Environmental Conference Reestablishes Itself! Part One.

 On Thursday, March 3, 2022, the Professional Abatement Contractors of New York's (PACNY's) 25th Annual Environmental Conference opened after a one-year hiatus.  The conference was held at the Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, New York, and the hotel and casino didn't seem to change much, however, the Lodge had a new bar that was beautiful and was very peaceful.  As usual, the service at the hotel/casino and the TS Steakhouse was personable and professional!

The conference began with opening remarks and a conference welcome from Craig Kaputa, PACNY's President, Kevin Hutton, PACNY's Vice President, and Deb Sanscrainte, of Aramsco, Inc., PACNY's Conference Chair.  The first presentation, "Tribute to Past President - Chuck Kirch", was by Joe Cantone, Colden Corporation, it achieved the right balance of somber, respectful, and funny.  Chuck Kirch passed away in November 2021.  Brent Kynoch from the Environmental Information Association (EIA)  invited us to become members of the EIA and then updated us on what's happening at the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) regarding asbestos and the "Draft Risk Evaluation of Asbestos - Part 2".  The last presenter before the break was Mark Gonzales, of Cornerstone Training Institute, speaking about "Cannabis in the Workplace".  Since the New York State Cannabis Law does not define the term "specific articulable symptoms."  Mr. Gonzales discussed the difficulties with assessing employee impairment from cannabis use, however, it is evident that an employer can act against an employee unable to perform their job duties or who poses a safety hazard due to their use of cannabis.  The break was to let the attendees go see the vendors in the exhibit hall and get some refreshments.

After the break, the presentations began again with a virtual presentation by Tom Laubenthal, of  AirQuest Environmental, Inc., on "Lead-Based Paint; EPA & Housing and Urban Development (HUD), A Review and Updates of Recent Changes in Rules".   Mr. Laubenthal's presentation went through a host of lead regulations from EPA, HUD, Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regarding Target Housing, Child-Occupied Facilities (both are based on pre-1978 construction), certifications, real estate transactions, and the different numbers and procedures for handling lead-based paint.  The amazing part was that Mr. Laubenthal was able to fit his whole presentation within 45 minutes.  Angelo Garcia, III, Future Environment Designs, Inc., was the last presentation before the lunch break.  Mr. Garcia's presentation was on the "Trials & Tribulations of Training During a Pandemic" to see the presentation click on the link, which will take you to our dropbox folder on conference presentations (our presentation is in the 2022 PACNY Presentations folder).  We discussed how the pandemic has affected our company and the training industry with supporting data from Ms. Karen Cummings, M.P.H., Director of the New York State Department of Health's (NYSDOH's) Asbestos Safety Training Program, and Mr. Chek Beng Ng, P.E., Professional Engineer, of the New York State Department of Labor's (NYSDOL's) Engineering Services Unit (A Big Thank You to the both of you!).   A buffet lunch was served in the Oneida Room.  In our next post, we will discuss the presentations after lunch!  Until then!

Obviously, due to the pandemic, last year's conference was not held.  This year's conference goes back to the original format of two days - Thursday & Half-day Friday.  Thursday is usually the Professional Day and we're looking forward to the following presentations: a presentation by a New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL) Inspector by Elizabeth Kirkland;  The Evolving Role of the NYS Project Monitor, and a roundtable discussion by PACNY experts on mold, that will include Jack Springston of ATC.  PACNY has asked us, (Angelo Garcia, III's, of Future Environment Designs, Inc. (FEDTC)), to speak and we will be presenting on the "Trials and Tribulations of Training During a Pandemic".  We hope our presentation will be an entertaining look into trying to maintain a training program during a pandemic.  We would like to thank Ms. Karen Cummings, M.P.H., Director of the New York State Department of Health's (NYSDOH) Asbestos Safety Training Program for providing us with data for our presentation regarding the number of asbestos training certificates issued during the last four years.  We would also like to thank Mr. Chek Beng Ng, P.E., Professional Engineer, of the NYSDOL Engineering Services Unit, for also providing us with the mold training data, since 2015, for our presentation.  With this information, it will be interesting to see the impact the pandemic had on training and in extension on the available workforce.   After the last presentation, we will head over to the Exhibition Hall with the Vendors/Sponsors of the conference and network with the attendees at the open bar.  Yes, that's right Happy Hour is back!

Half-day Friday is Regulatory Day with the NYSDOL's Asbestos Control Bureau usually doing a brief presentation and then doing a questions and answers session.  One question certain to be asked will be when will the Fast Track Variances return?  Mr. Ed Smith, P.E., Program Manager of the NYSDOL Engineering Services Unit will be expected to answer that question.  This year we will have new people on the podium.  Dr. Eileen Franco has retired and the new director is Amy Phillips.  Mr. Kirk Fisher takes over for Mr. James Meacham, P.E. as head of the Enforcement Unit.  This ponders the question of who takes over the Licensing and Certification Unit?  Mr. Paul Demick, Associate Safety & Health Inspector, will be on the podium for the NYSDOL License & Certificate Unit.    Lunch on Friday is the last meal of the conference and the last chance to network with the attendees.  It will be good to get back to Turning Stone and see all our friends and business associates, again.  Hoping to see you there!

On the morning of July 7, 2021, Future Environment Designs participated in the 8th Annual Professional Abatement Contractors of New York (PACNY) Fishing Pro-Am Tournament.  The tournament was based out of the Lake Breeze Marina, Kent, New York, and on Lake Ontario.  It was an iffy day with a thunderstorm passing through just before the tournament started and the lake was a bit rough with 2-4 foot waves.  There were 17 boats in this year's tournament (a nice turnout considering the recent easing of Covid restrictions).  They were:

Future Environment Design's fishing team consisted of Ms. Sheryl Esposito, Mr. Matthew Desch, Ms. Veronica Hansen Garcia, and Mr. Angelo Garcia, III.  This was the first year that Future Environment Design's team was more than two people.  We were thrilled to have Sheryl and Matt with us this year.  Most of you have met Sheryl and Matt at the annual PACNY Conference at Turning Stone Casino in Verona, NY.  Sheryl is usually womaning our booth at the Conference.  Unlike other Tournament years, because of the rough lake, we went straight out and did not do a shotgun start.  Because of the rough water, Captain Tom Murray of the Catch 'N' Hell boat decided to go far out and work our way back.  Which was a good decision considering how it turned out.  It definitely was our day considering our first catch was the one that won big fish for the day!

We had the good fortune to catch enough Salmon & Trout to last us the entire year and fill our freezer (including sharing with Sheryl and Matt)!  By the time we had to decide whether to go in or keep fishing, we had caught sufficient fish to decide to call it an early day at 11 AM (based on the weather that was a good decision).  Our second and third salmon catches brought us the Trophy and the prize money for the Tournament:

Future Environment Designs and the Catch 'N' Hell Team

We are so proud to finally have our name added to the Trophy and that it only took 8 years to win the trophy.  This was the second time, we've caught the big fish the first time was the Second Annual Tournament.  The buffet (back again now that Covid restrictions have eased) at the Black North Inn was delicious roast beef with weck bread and horseradish.  A great big THANK YOU to Darren Yehl of CTI for organizing this Tournament!  Between our daughter's wedding, training beginning to return to normal, and this fishing tournament the summer has been a blessing but is going too quickly.  This year is the 6-year anniversary of Article 32 NYS's Mold Law and most everyone's license will be expiring between September and January 2022.  Look forward to seeing all of you soon and regaling you with my fishing adventures!

Proficiency Day - Day One of PACNY's 24th Annual Environmental Conference!

Every year we look forward to the Professional Abatement Contractors of New York's (PACNY's) Environmental Conference.  This year was no exception considering it was the 24th annual.  The conference started on Wednesday, February 26, 2020, with Proficiency Day and Mr. Angelo Garcia, III of Future Environment Designs, Inc., (FEDTC) who had the honor this year of starting off the conference.  Proficiency Day this year focused on asbestos contamination assessment that was suggested by Mr. James Meacham, PE, of New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL) and we greatly appreciated his agreeing to also do a presentation on the topic.  In addition, we were able to convince Mr. Bart Gallagher, of Enviroscience Consultants, Inc., to do a case study presentation on the contamination assessment involved with the Long Island dumping cases.  For the second year in a row, proficiency day provided 3 PDH for professional engineers, architects, & other certifications.

Angelo Garcia, III's presentation focused on the regulatory requirements or the lack of regulatory requirements of asbestos contamination assessments. The presentation also included polling of the audience using Poll Everywhere.  The basic points of the presentation were that most of the information we use regarding contamination assessments come from the Guidance Document which was a frequently asked questions document created by NYSDOL as a supplement to NYSDOL Industrial Code Rule 56 - Asbestos Regulation and the collection of dust and debris samples is very tricky, and the most important thing is how do you interpret the results?

 James Meacham's presentation focused on some of the issues NYSDOL has been seeing regarding contamination assessments.  He discussed the assessment tools such as using your eyes, documentation, bulk sampling, air sampling, wipe sampling, micro-vacuum sampling, and tape lifts.  What do the results mean using these assessment tools and does it need to be zero?  Well maybe not.  Clean air under state law is less than 0.01 fibers per cubic centimeters of air (that's not zero).  Mr. Meacham also discussed debris pile assessment and the need for the inspector to visually inspect the debris for suspect asbestos-containing materials (ACM) and determine if representative sampling is feasible and can be done safely.  The presentation included a draft decision tree for debris assessment.

After a short break, Bart Gallagher's presentation was on the contamination assessment that was done for the Long Island dumping case.  Mr. Gallagher's presentation went into the different causes of damage such as environmental causes or ignorance, carelessness, and neglect.  Criminal actions are rare...but are committed.  The specific points of the Long Island dumping case were that soil borings were done with Geoprobe and split-spoon sampling to test for volatile organic compounds (VOCs), semi-VOCs, metals, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and pesticides.  Test trenches were more effective for finding ACM than the Geoprobe.  The variance application to NYSDOL was similar to 56-11.5 controlled demolition with machine excavation and loading into lined trucks/roll-offs, decontamination area for equipment, proper disposal, and project monitoring and air sampling.

The first day then continued later that evening with the PACNY President's (Timothy Thomas, of Tetra Tech) reception which included drinks and appetizers and a lot of networking.  Some of the above presentations are available in our dropbox folder under conference presentations (2020PACNY presentations) or you can also find them at PACNY's website.  The first day went extremely well and did a great job warming everyone up for the conference yet to come!

Professional Day - Day Two of PACNY's 23rd Annual Environmental Conference - Vendors Galore!

The second day of the Professional Abatement Contractors of New York's (PACNY's) 23rd Annual Environmental Conference at Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, New York, started in the Vendor Exhibit Hall with the realization that there were quite a few new vendors on display.  To be exact 5 additional vendors added to the usual 23 vendors the conference usually has.  To provide access to the presentations PACNY has loaded most of the presentations from the three-day conference at their website, click here.

Opening remarks & conference welcome were done by Chairman Deb Sanscrainte of Aramsco, and PACNY President Joseph Cantone, of Colden Corporation.  The first presenter for the second day was Sue Rossi, CHMM the Sr. Industrial Account Manager of Waste Management, her topic was "Asbestos and other special wastes".  Her presentation informed us that New York State in 1988 had 227 landfills and now there are only 26 active landfills, many closed due to tougher environmental regulations.  Her presentation also informed us that NYS requires landfills to treat non-friable asbestos-containing materials (ACM) that are placed into an asbestos labeled waste bag (class 9 bags) as friable.  Even if they are put into class 9 bags that were turned inside out.  If the bag rips open at the landfill, the landfill will back charge the contractor for the additional fee for disposal as a friable instead of the nonfriable charge.  Ms. Rossi also discussed that Waste Management's High Acres Landfill can accept polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) bulk product (e.g., caulk, paint, mastics, sealants) waste.  The approval checklist and backup information for the handling of PCB bulk product wastes and a copy of her presentation can be found here.

Our next presenter was Timothy W. Pullis, ARM, Construction Practice Leader of Brown & Brown of NY, Inc., discussing "Workers' Compensation EMR Fundamentals".  Mr. Pullis discussed a drugfree workplace credit of 5% (worth 5 points); experience mod was explained as a formula that calculates the ratio of "expected" losses compared to "actual" losses, the experience mod is a statistical comparison of risks using the same job class codes and similar payroll, and the result adjusts the annual workers compensation premium based on the prior loss experience by "modifying" the manual premium; and EMRs over one (1) could exempt people from certain contracts.  Our presenter before coffee break was Adam Schrader, President of Ecospect and George Schambach, President of NYS American Association of Radon Scientist and Technologist (AARST) Professional Home Inspection Service discussing "Current Radon Legislation in NYS, and current national American National Standards Institute (ANSI)/AARST Standards for testing and mitigation in all building types".  Mr. Schambach discussed pending NYS legislation Assembly Bill #A8605 and Senate Bill #S6851 to amend the real property law, in relation to radon service professional licensing.  Radon service professionals would include - radon measurement professional defined as radon service professional who deploys and retrieves radon detectors and provides a report of the associated measurement results that are generated by a radon analytical laboratory and radon mitigation professional defined as a radon service professional who interprets radon test results and determines the most effective way to manage radon concentrations within buildings.

After taking our break in the Vendor Exhibit Hall, Kevin Canaan, of AAC Contracting, started the presentations by awarding Joseph D. Lane, President of Environmental Protection Services, PACNY's Lifetime Achievement Award for his many years of service above and beyond normal PACNY duties.  Corey W. Briggs, MSPH, CIH, CET, FAIHA, Senior Consultant of Colden Corporation, led a presentation titled "Freeze Frame - Focus on H&S" that was entertaining for the many pictures of unsafe acts.  Next up was Brian Sampson, of the Associated Builders and Contractors Association, discussing "Trends and Issues of Concern for the Construction Community".  His discussion touched on the legalization of recreational marijuana and the extension of prevailing wage to private work.

Mike Rubin of Goldberg Segalla - Proactively Establish Your Defenses

After lunch and the Vendor Exhibit Hall Mike Rubin Esq., Partner at Goldberg Segalla, discussed "Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Top Ten Tips - Minimize and Eliminate Exposure".  Mr. Rubin's presentation touched on the employer's rights during an OSHA inspection, creating an OSHA response plan, asserting your rights during an inspection, and points necessary for a proactive defense.  After another visit to the Vendor Exhibit Hall, Mike Waller, PhD, of Rochester Regional Health, spoke on "Sustainability/Solutions and How to Balance".  Dr. Waller started his presentation with "how do you define sustainability."  His definition was thought-provoking "development that meets the needs of the current generation without compromising the needs of future generations" or in other words "Solving today's challenges without creating future problems".  The presentations ended with Rob DeMalo, Member of the Board of Directors of the Environmental Information Association (EIA) and Senior Vice President of EMSL Analytical, Inc, presentation on "Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA) Regulatory Update".  Discussing the Significant New Use Rule (SNUR) proposal from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

After the presentations, the Vendor Reception was held in Vendor Exhibit Hall including food and an open bar.  The vendor reception included the usual suspects Aramsco, DiVal, Frederico Demolition, Healthy Indoors, and Future Environment Designs, click here for a full list of Sponsors/Vendors.  One of the interesting new vendors was Sundstrom displaying new respirators for asbestos and silica and Red Roof Inn with a special discount for conference attendees.  The second day is called Professional Day and all the presentations definitely met the definition of professional with a lot of valuable information provided and may takeaways.
